Organization

Indicorps is largely a volunteer-run organization geared towards encouraging civic participation across the global Indian community, and implementing sustainable grassroots projects towards India’s progress. Currently, the organization is run by a handful of full-time staff members (in India) and a few highly dedicated, unpaid volunteers. Indicorps maintains a small Board of Directors (seven members) to ensure adaptability and flexibility in creating a meaningful, high-quality service program. Alumni are also encouraged to take an active role in representing and managing Indicorps after their tenure of service. Indicorps relies on an informal network of advisors that includes experts and leaders in grassroots development, the non-profit sector, and the Indian diaspora.

In addition, Indicorps builds on the strength of the local partner organizations who are already engaged in India’s progress. Local partner organizations generally drive the direction of the project and manage frontline supervision of the Indicorps fellow, while Indicorps provides training and external support. This working partnership is geared towards leadership development, project-related performance, and local capacity building; it combines local ingenuity and expertise with innovative new ideas to uplift India.
